Think Pink – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast cancer awareness month.

Cancer councils Pink Ribbon campaign aims to raise awareness about breast and gynaecological cancers, as well as raise funds for prevention programs, support services & vital cancer reasearch.
Everyday in Australia 50 women are diagnosed with breast or a gynaecological cancer.

Practice Profile – Ros

Roslyn or as she more affectionately know as Ros,  joined the practice in November 2015 as our Practice Nurse, She has worked in General Practice for 13 years  &  has a wealth of experience & knowledge.

Ros, her husband Marcus relocated from London to Port Macquarie over 10 years ago; they have two children Max & Billy.

As a family they enjoy the outdoors with many camping adventures, bike riding & being very active in sporting clubs in the local area.

Flu

Influenza (flu) is a highly contagious viral infection which can cause serious illness in some individuals, for example in the elderly and pregnant women

We have the Fluarix Tetra 2017 vaccine in stock which is the most recent vaccine and covers four strains of influenza

Staff Profile – Lauren

Lauren joined the practice in October 2015.

Having worked in general practice for 17 years she was the perfect fit for the role as Practice Manager with the clinic.

Lauren has grown up locally and has an extensive knowledge in general practice.

In April 2016 Lauren and her partner Andrew welcomed their first child a little girl  which they named Wynter Rose. Having just returned from maternity leave in January of this year,

Lauren is looking forward to seeing some old & new faces.

Flu Vaccination

AVOID THE FLU THIS WINTER

We have the 2017 vaccine in STOCK!
If you are one of the following groups you are eligible for the FREE vaccine through the government funded program:
1. Aged 65 years and over
2. Pregnant Women
3. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of 15 years and older
4. Those with chronic medical conditions including heart disease, severe asthma, lung conditions, nervous system conditions. E.g. multiple sclerosis, diabetes and those with weakened immune systems

If you fall outside these categories we have the flu vaccine for $12

Christmas Greetings

Over the holiday period we will be closed on all the public holidays and operating with adjusted hours.  Not all Doctors will be available on their usual day.  Normal hours will recommence on the 3rd of January 2017.  The Grange Family Medical Centre wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
